Based on vibration trending the increasing of overall value seem drastically increase and dominated by 1X (motor speed). Besides that, mechanical seal was frequently damage and very costly for replacement. Eventhough, major action such as motor and pump replacement been done, however, the vibration still unsatisfactory. Therefore, ODS approach has been performed to find the root cause of high vibration condition on unit subsequent to both driver and driven. The RCFA was conducted to eliminate the problem between motor and pump.
A huge vibration energy has been identified during routine measurement visit on all three (3) units upon installation completed. However, the reason behind of unacceptable vibration on 2 units of pump was not recognised. Excessive vibration has brought attention to installation team to evaluate the internal condition of pump but no significant evidence was found. Upon receiving this information resonance is suspected and bump test is decided to be carrying out. The technique required difference signal processing setup than normal routine measurement which to counteract on the limitation. Precautions also taken as it involve with multiple components that assembled together which has drive to another challenge.
Excessive vibration was observed through the skid. Vibration spectra were showing 3X of engine speed was dominating and significant vibration drop was seen after decoupling the pump unit. During installation with a new set of the pump, the vibration was re-measured and found results not meet the acceptable condition which contributed with the same element. Hence, initiate us to perform further analysis on machine skid and foundation. Bump test was performed and results found no positive findings. The further investigation we introduced by re-run the unit at 30% from resonance condition found at satisfied results.
